I know its already February! But I did set some new goals for myself this year. ONE, would be to blog more. I have so many posts I want to put up but so little time.
I did complete the Goofy Challenge this past January. And while I guess I can “technically” call myself a marathoner, I’m really not. I am a running poser! It was hot, it was brutal and I did it, but not how I would have imagined. I will post a recap later this week on Marathon weekend. Which by the way was AWESOME regardless of my less than stellar performance.
So this year I have new goals. I want to go back to the basics. I want to run faster and I want to get back into shape. Yes, I know. The typical new years resolutions. But this year I am serious and I have a good coach who will be on my ass with my training.
So with the help of this awesome coach (I need to see if he minds the shout out), I am going to train for a faster 5K. My very first 5K I ran a 33:05 which is a 10:38 pace and its been all down hill since then. My last 5K I ran a 37:01, which is an 11:54 pace! Really?! Almost 1.5 minutes slower. I know it’s my fault and my lack of training, so this year my goals are to increase my 5k, 10K and finally my half marathon time. I would like to break a 2:30 half in the fall.
I actually just finishing week 2 of my training which I will recap soon. It hasn’t been easy, but I actually think I may be able to accomplish this!
