Well.. almost 2 years later… I am happy to report that I did indeed finish the couch to 5K!! I am just a bad bad blogger!!
I ran my first 5K in April of 2012 (and a few more after that), ran my first 10K in June 2010 then ran my first Half Marathon in Disney in January 2011!
I then ran the Frederick Half Marathon in May 2011, the Baltimore Half Marathon in October 2011 and the Disney Half Marathon again in January 2012! Now hubby and I have our sights set on running The Goofy in 2013!
For those that don’t know, the Goofy Challenge is running the half marathon on Saturday then running the full marathon on Sunday. Crazy… I know! But why not? I wanted to run the full anyway so why not go Goofy! We will probably walk most of the half to reserve our energy for the full. But I am excited to try this!
NOW, let’s just get this out there now. I am in NO WAY in good shape. Actually I’m not. Just because I can run 13.1 miles (at a slow pace I might add) doesn’t mean that I am healthy and in the best shape. But I am going to correct that. For the past 2 years, I have only ran 3X a week (and at times have taken a month or so off in between). Not good! My goal for this year is to become more physically fit. More weight lifting, more boot camp classes and become a more faster and efficient runner! And I know I can do it. I just need to COMMIT to doing it! No more excuses, no more “I don’t have the time”. It’s time to push myself to becoming the woman I want to become and have the body that I want to have. I can achieve it. I just need to put in the work!
SO – here I go! And I hope to document the progress along the way! There is only 340 more days until Marathon Weekend 2013 begins! Let’s see how much I can accomplish!
