Here we go! Week 1 Day 1.
Today I am suppose to start with a brisk five-minute warm up walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes, then a 5 minute cool down. My only fear is that R won’t do well in the child care center. See, that has been my problem before. I get it in me to start working out, but my kids won’t stay in the child care centers at the gym. I would get 10 minutes into my workout and would get the dreaded call. “attention… would Mrs. R please report back to the child care center”.
Well, I am pleased to report that R did great and the workout was a piece of cake. I could have gone more but I knew not to. My heart and my lungs could have easily done more, but I have to keep reminding myself that my bones and joints that support them can’t. Not yet at least. For my own sake I am going to post what my treadmill speeds are
Walk – 3.5
Run – 4.0
Now, you may ask, why do I want to run the Disney Marathon? Why not just some local 1/2. Well, for those of you who do not know me. I am a Disney Freak! Yes I am and I am proud to say it. I love Disney! Everything about the place is so magical and I have such a great time when I go there. Sometimes I think I am more excited about our trips than my boys! So what better place to run my first marathon than to run through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot and have Mickey and Goofy cheer me on! I am not running this alone, I have my wonderful Aunt who will be running right along with me. Or probably in my case, a few minutes ahead of me, but whatever, and old friends from high school, so I know it will be an awesome experience. My goal is to finish it. I don’t need to be the fastest, I just need to be ahead of the sweeper!
Day 1 done.. and I feel great!
